Stoneware pieces

They are made with the same type of material used in restaurant and household tableware. The stoneware holds better sudden temperature changes and its handling and rubbing against other ceramic, glass, crystal or metal pieces. What makes these pieces optimal for hot or cold drinks and food.

Here you can find bowls, serving dishes, cups of different sizes, etc. They are decorated with glazes with balanced formulas, making them food safe and suitable for microwave and dishwasher machine.

There are also other pieces made with this same type of stoneware or similar high-temperature clays with granules or a kind of sand, chamotte, which gives them a rougher and more stony texture. This type of objects are specially made for decoration of walls and furniture in any room of the house or office.

They are articles with an aesthetic and artistic character, such as clocks, vases, lamps with lampshades of different materials, etc. You can also find tableware elements of daily use are suitable for display on furniture, shelves, walls, etc. due to their shape and bigger size.

Porcelain pieces

With porcelain, or known as china, it is possible the creation of pieces with thinner walls, being able to be translucent and makes the colors more vivid and bright. This material is harder than stoneware, but requires more care in handling due to be more tempered and the pieces having a thinner wall.

In porcelain you can find plates, vases, serving dishes, bowls of different sizes, etc. There are also lamps in which the lampshade or lampshade is the one made of porcelain. In these ones I use different techniques, colors and materials creating very special and unique decorative effects.

All the pieces maintain a careful quality and design. Each piece is a work of high craftsmanship. I take maximum care of the details, finishes and condition of each piece. So that it is consistent with the level of work I dedicate to it and the value it has.

Lamp bases

You can choose between individual and unique pieces or in pairs that are similar in shape and color. No two bases are exactly the same since each one has its own personality. They come in different sizes, some optimal for night tables, others as lighting elements on a living room table next to a sofa or armchair. Also to put on a piece of furniture, chest of drawers or sideboards in any room or office.

Delivered with the installation of the socket and cable with switch and plug matching in color with the piece. I look for a screen that matches well with the base design.

Screens or lampshades

I make them with translucent porcelain that lets light through when its wall is very thin. It is the most complicated material to work of which I use due to its low plasticity compared to other types of clays such as stoneware, earthenware or red clay. Porcelain is used almost exclusively in molds to make repeating pieces.

The shapes are simple to give more importance to the effect they make with light. I also play with the color of the traslucent glazes that I use to decorate them.

Here you will find pendant lamps of different sizes that are delivered with the installation of the socket, ceiling base and cable matching in color with the piece. There are also lampshades combined with stoneware or porcelain bases that are delivered with the installation of the socket and cable with switch and plug matching in color with the piece.

For hot or cold food, and decoration

Containers for serving at the table in many shapes and sizes. Also other pieces with special shapes with which I seek to play with the balance, shape and thinness of the porcelain wall.

Here we have small containers, similar to those of stoneware, to take something to snack on the table , or on the sofa why not !!!. From olives, nuts, caramels or jelly beans, to sauces or sauces for chips, nachos or any other craving, whim or luxury you want to allow for yourself.

There is a wide variety to choose from in wider bowls optimal for a breakfast of cereals or a small salad for brunch, lunch or dinner and use them as a deep dish for soups or creams.

Then there are those that are great as a salad bowl, serving trays, fruit bowl, or even as a very aesthetic item to decorate the table, sideboard, bookshelf or any furniture in the house or office. They are large enough to serve multiple diners and stand out in the center of a meal or gathering. Some of them because of their more open shape are perfect for chips, nachos, etc. and accompany them with those smaller bowls with dips or sauces. Great for snacks with friends and family with good taste.

There are also those of a special shape and size, excellent for decorating tables, sideboards, shelves, etc. and enhance in a very aesthetic and artistic way on any furniture.

Porcelain pieces of the bowl or salad bowl type are optimal for everyday use, are food safe and suitable for microwave. Porcelain is a harder material than stoneware but, unlike this material, having thinner walls you have to be more careful in handling and washing. Therefore I do not recommend its use in the dishwasher. Those that have special shapes and effects with materials and glazes are more suitable for decoration, in these I cannot guarantee that they are food safe.

Stoneware pieces

Here you will find that special object to complement the decoration of your own home. It is also a good option as a gift to have and enjoy you would like for family or friends. All the pieces have an elaborate design that has evolved over time to have a delicate, elegant and pleasant shape. Maintaining always, and even improving, its functionality.

Vase, canister, pot, etc.

Pieces of various sizes and shapes, with or without a lid, and a thousand of uses to decorate furnitures. Here you will find that special item to make a flower arrangement, bring ice to the table or use it to chill wine, store candies, sweets, cookies, etc.

Oil Lamp

This is one of the star designs in my entire history as a potter. It is an own, unique design, with more than 30 years, which has even become my personal brand, it is the J of my firm JHM that I sign under the pieces and appears in the logo. Its delicate shape and its perfect aesthetic and functional balance make this lamp perfect to create a cozy and magical atmosphere. It can be used with any vegetable oil or liquid paraffin. Drops of essential oils can also be added to aromatize the environment.

Wall Clock

Its surface is perfect for creating textures and blending glazes. Some of them include iron and brass filings, and even needles. Wall clocks thus become abstract paintings that refer to landscapes, galaxies, planets, minerals, etc.

Incense holder

They have the ideal place to hold the stick vertically. It has a receptacle to put more sticks and a plate shape so that they receive the ash that can fall in any direction. It can also be used with incense cones or even as an ashtray.

Air fresheners

This air freshener is the perfect natural way to perfume your home with essential oils while creating a sweet and gentle elegance to any room. They are made in one piece with a special wheelthrown technique, which takes years of experience to do it properly. The heat emitted by the candle placed below causes the slow evaporation of the water with drops of essential oils that are placed on top. The central chimney allows the dissipation of excess heat and thus not affect the piece in case the water runs out.

Phantom bank, money box, etc.

It is a very decorative piece for any room in the house. This greedy ghost of money in coins and bills has a cork navel that lets you know how much it has been stored. It take cares of your money and go unnoticed even if it is very decorative.

Ceramic in all of its diversity allows experimentation with many types of materials that can be affected by fire. Others complement the piece by creating a contrast of textures or continuing the shape.

Arts of fire

Ceramic

This includes terracotta or red clay, used for pots, tiles, bricks, etc. The firing temperature does not usually exceed 900ºC-1650ºF.

White or red painted white earthenware, better known as majolica, etc. Used for white tiles and everyday items decorated with colorful brushstrokes, which are usually figurative. Although they are articles of daily use, they are not very resistant to excessive manipulation. The firing temperature does not usually exceed 1000ºC-1830ºF.

Stoneware is used for floor tiles and tableware in restaurants or at home. It is more resistant to manipulation, shocks and temperature changes. Although there are stoneware clays that are fired at around 1100ºC-2000ºF, it is normal for them to be from 1230ºC-2250ºF to 1300ºC-2400ºF.

Porcelain is usually used more for fine tableware since it is a harder material than stoneware. It allows make pieces of thinner walls, being able to be translucent. But due to the thickness of the wall it may not support daily use as stoneware does. The temperature is usually between 1250ºC-2280ºF and 1320ºC-2400ºF.

Glass

I usually say that in ceramics materials are mixed, the piece is made and fired so that it can be vitrified. And in the glass the materials are mixed, melted and then the piece is made. It is a simple explanation for a very complex world of techniques. In itself the glaze that covers the ceramic pieces is a glass that melts over the piece.

In my case I only use the fusing or thermoforming technique, in which glass sheets are deformed at about 800ºC to make concave pieces.

Metal enamel

This is a very low temperature ceramic enamel, about 850ºC-1560ºF, which melts over a metal piece. The best known example is cloisonné, champlevé or even varnished pewter (enameled metal) from our ancestors.

Other materials

I use metal shavings, needles or organic matter to interact with the glaze of the piece in the kiln. I complement some pieces with pieces of wood, turned wood, wire, copper tubes, etc.

For hot or cold drinks

The cup, whatever its size, as an instrument or hand extension, allows you to enjoy a hot or cold drink with safety and comfort. If it is also a handmade piece, with a good design and an appropriate size for that drink you want to enjoy, it makes its use become a pleasant experience.

Espresso Cups

They have the usual size of about 7cm (3") high by 7cm (3") in diameter approximately, plus about 3cm (2") of the handle. The capacity is more or less 150 ml (5oz), more than half a glass, and they weigh just under 200 grs. each (c. 0.5 lb). You can make sets of 2 or more cups by choosing several of them that have a similar color mix.

Mugs

These are 10cm (4") high by 8cm (3") diameter approximately, plus about 4 cm (c. 2") of the handle. The capacity is about 450 ml (15oz), like 2 glasses, and they weigh just over 400 grs (c. 1 lb) each. As with espresso cups, you can make sets of 2 or more cups by choosing several that have a similar color mixture. Occasionally I make supports for 6 mugs that I will put on sale as they come out.

Beer mugs or american coffee mugs

It is like a large large mug, almost 15cm (6") high by approximately 10cm (4") in diameter, plus about 4cm (c. 2") of the handle where you can put the 4 fingers. The capacity is just over half a liter, and it weighs almost 600 grs. (1.5 lb) each. Here the differences are more evident as they have a larger surface and have more mix of colors and effects, but you can also make sets or sets of 2 or more.

Glasses

They are the version of the mug and the beer mug but without a handle. I make them of the same dimensions and since they do not have a handle they are appropriate for cold drinks.

Pitchers

The perfect complement for mugs, beer mugs or glasses. With one of these that combines in color with the chosen pieces you already have the complete set, creating a very decorative and original set.

All these pieces are food safe and suitable for microwave and dishwasher machine. They are very decorative pieces.
